Apple Plans to Produce Its Own Artificial Intelligence Chips

Apple is preparing to manufacture its own chips for artificial intelligence systems, aiming to roll them out by 2027.

According to TrendForce, Apple is working with Broadcom on a custom chip codenamed “Baltra.” This strategic move is intended to further enhance the company’s Apple Intelligence services.

Analysts believe that one of the biggest beneficiaries of this project will be Foxconn. The company is expected to go beyond assembling iPhones and become a key supplier of AI servers for Apple.

Servers powered by Baltra chips are planned to launch in 2027, while the chip development process itself is expected to be completed within about one year. According to Wccftech, the new chips will be manufactured using TSMC’s 3-nanometer N3E process technology.

An important point is that Baltra chips are designed not for training AI models, but for inference—that is, running pre-trained models and processing user queries.

It is also worth recalling that in November 2025, Apple reached an agreement with Google to use the Gemini model in its Siri voice assistant. Apple is reportedly expected to pay Google around $1 billion per year for this service, which will handle more complex tasks.
