Azerbaijan's Digital Development and Transport Minister Rashad Nabiyev spoke at the "InMerge Innovation Summit" held today. In his speech, he noted that Azerbaijan is considering the options of importing ICT products, creating production hubs, outsourcing hubs, business hubs, and becoming an innovation hub, and concluded that importing ICT products does not contribute to the development of innovation in the country: "Countries with a large population of ICT products suppliers, are turning into outsourcing hubs. Ukraine and Pakistan are examples of this. Countries with a suitable geographical situation are trying to become business hubs. Considering that the population of Azerbaijan is not large enough, its geographical location is not very strategic in this regard. therefore, the only choice is an innovation hub. It requires a lot of energy, investment and education. One of the main reasons we decided to be an innovation hub is the potential to add enormous value to the economy."
In addition, he noted that in order to create a hub of innovation, the legal base of Azerbaijan should be prepared to accept international investments and we should attract international experts to our country.
