In 2025, Azerbaijan’s literacy rate reached nearly 100%, with 99.8% of the population being literate. This achievement places the country among those with the highest literacy levels in the world.
According to UNESCO, out of 177 countries, Azerbaijan is one of the 13 nations with a 100% literacy rate, ranking 5th on this list. This accomplishment reflects the country’s educational reforms, accessibility to education, and the government’s strong commitment to the sector.
The data also highlights the strength and effectiveness of Azerbaijan’s education system. Additionally, according to CEIC Data, in 2023, the literacy rate among Azerbaijan’s youth (ages 15–24) was 100%, indicating the cultivation of future generations who are educated and well-informed.
This success positions Azerbaijan prominently on the global education map and further strengthens the country’s standing in the international arena.
