ChatGPT has launched the group chats feature

The new feature allows users to communicate and collaborate with friends, family members, or colleagues in the same virtual environment. Participants can plan trips in these chats, work together on documents, discuss disagreements to reach a consensus, or conduct research. ChatGPT speeds up the process by finding relevant information, summarizing it, and comparing options. Up to 20 participants can join a group chat via an invitation.

To create a group, simply add participants from the menu or send an invite link. Each user has a simple profile (name and picture). Importantly, users’ personal settings and information from their private chats remain hidden from other group members. Additionally, when someone is added to an existing one-on-one conversation, the old chat remains unchanged, and a new, empty discussion group is automatically created.

In group chats, ChatGPT stands out for its ability to understand context; it does not intervene unnecessarily and can "stay out" of conversations. Participants only receive responses from the AI when they address it using the "@ChatGPT" tag. Furthermore, it can react to messages with emojis and recognize participants by their profile pictures.
