Since its launch in May 2023, OpenAI’s ChatGPT mobile app has generated $2 billion in revenue from users worldwide. According to an analysis by Appfigures, this figure is roughly 30 times the combined revenue from users of ChatGPT’s mobile competitors – Claude, Copilot, and Grok.
In the first seven months of 2025 alone, the app has already brought in $1.35 billion, a 673% increase compared to the same period last year. On average, ChatGPT’s mobile app earns approximately $193 million per month, up from $25 million in 2024.
Compared to its competitors, ChatGPT’s lead is clear. Grok generated around $25.6 million during the same period this year, which is only 1.9% of ChatGPT’s monthly revenue.
The average lifetime revenue per download for ChatGPT is $2.91. For its competitors, the figures are: Claude – $2.55, Grok – $0.75, Copilot – $0.28. In the U.S. market, revenue per download reaches $10, accounting for 38% of the app’s total revenue.
In terms of downloads, ChatGPT also outpaces its competitors. The app has been installed approximately 690 million times, compared to just 39.5 million for Grok. In the first seven months of 2025, ChatGPT was downloaded 318 million times, 2.8 times more than during the same period last year. India leads in lifetime downloads at 13.7%, followed by the U.S. at 10.3%.
These numbers demonstrate that ChatGPT continues to dominate the mobile AI chatbot market and maintains strong user engagement.
