China’s Ministry of Commerce has approved applications from local semiconductor exporters to obtain licenses. The ministry has also restored supplies from Nexperia China, a company under China’s Wingtech group.
He Yadun, a representative of the Ministry of Commerce, stated that the swift issuance of licenses demonstrates the Chinese government’s responsible stance. This reflects Beijing’s desire to maintain stability and security in global supply chains in the semiconductor industry. He emphasized that the Dutch authorities’ intervention in Nexperia’s internal affairs poses a risk to global supply chains and expressed hope that the Netherlands will act responsibly and find a constructive solution.
Recall that on October 12, the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs announced the application of the “Law on the Accessibility of Goods” against Nexperia. Following this, the Amsterdam court removed Nexperia’s CEO, Can Suecjeni, from his position and appointed an interim director. In addition, all shares of Nexperia Holding, except for one, were transferred to an independent manager.
In response to this move, China imposed export restrictions on Nexperia. Certain components could not be exported from the country by the company’s Chinese branch and its subcontractors. As a result, Nexperia’s facilities in China suspended collaboration with the company’s Netherlands office.
