CoreWeave, a company offering cloud services for artificial intelligence models, has announced the acquisition of the AI agent startup OpenPipe. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed, but the OpenPipe team will join CoreWeave’s staff.
Founded in 2023 by brothers Kyle and David Corbitt, OpenPipe provides a platform that helps companies create AI agents based on language models. The platform allows users to build “fine-tuned” models using prompt-response pairs tailored to specific instructions.
These fine-tuned models are more cost-effective, faster, and task-specific compared to large, general-purpose models. This approach enables companies to set up customized AI systems suited to their needs without requiring machine learning experts.
The acquisition is part of CoreWeave’s goal to build a “fully integrated structure” within the AI ecosystem. Under the agreement, OpenPipe’s existing customers will automatically become CoreWeave’s customers.
