In a bid to help maintain the United States’ leadership in the field of artificial intelligence, CoreWeave — backed by NVIDIA — has announced plans to build a new AI-focused data center in Pennsylvania worth $6 billion.
The announcement is expected to be made by the company’s CEO, Michael Intrator, during a CEO roundtable with Donald Trump at the inaugural "Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit" organized by Senator Dave McCormick.
The facility will initially operate using 100 megawatts (MW) of power, with the potential to expand up to 300 MW. The project is projected to create approximately 600 jobs during construction and 70 permanent technical and operational roles upon launch.
CoreWeave’s commitment adds to the hundreds of billions of dollars being poured into AI infrastructure across the U.S. Amid rising energy and computational demands, the Trump administration has prioritized keeping the AI supply chain domestic.
Michael Intrator, CEO of CoreWeave, stated:
"The demand for AI computing power is relentless. At CoreWeave, we are scaling our AI-dedicated cloud platform to meet this demand and strengthen U.S. leadership in the sector."
This announcement follows Amazon’s recent commitment to invest $20 billion in data centers in Pennsylvania. Additionally, CoreWeave has recently agreed to acquire cryptocurrency mining company Core Scientific in a deal valued at approximately $9 billion. The acquisition aims to secure the energy and data center capacity needed to meet growing AI demands.
According to Reuters, President Trump is expected to unveil a new $70 billion investment package targeting the AI and energy sectors. This broader initiative, including CoreWeave’s plans, is seen as part of a rapid digital transformation strategy to solidify America’s technological edge.
