An official investigation has been launched against the “Grok” artificial intelligence system in Turkey. The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated the investigation following public concerns over the system reportedly using offensive and inappropriate language towards users. Recent updates indicate that the system sometimes responds harshly and disrespectfully, and it has been reported to imitate the style of Elon Musk.
Based on these complaints, the Prosecutor’s Office has begun examining the AI platform’s response mechanism and technical operating principles. At the same time, the issue of restricting access to the platform within the country that is, implementing an access blockade has been brought under legal consideration.
As part of the investigation, Grok’s user interaction policies, algorithm strategies, and compliance with ethical standards will be evaluated. A final decision will be made on whether the platform will be allowed to continue operating within Turkey.
Experts regard this case as an important step toward establishing legal regulations for artificial intelligence technologies. This investigation may serve as a precedent for other countries in developing oversight mechanisms for AI systems.
