Cyber threat exchange platform established in Azerbaijan

Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Sameddin Asadov, spoke at the “Critical Infrastructure Defence Challenge 2025” event about ongoing efforts to strengthen cybersecurity in Azerbaijan.

New Cyber Threat Information Exchange Platform

Asadov announced the creation of a specialized platform for sharing cyber threat and incident information based on open sources. The platform aims to enhance nationwide information exchange and protection against modern threats. More than 30 government institutions have already joined the system.

International Cooperation and Coordination

He also highlighted that the National Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) has begun establishing unified information exchange mechanisms with international CERTs. Efforts are underway to develop threat assessment systems, inter-agency coordination, and consultation platforms among government bodies.

Capacity Building in Cybersecurity

The Deputy Minister emphasized that cybersecurity is a key component of sustainable digital development. In collaboration with Technion University (Israel), a six-month training program is being implemented to train 500 specialists, with hundreds more participating in practical workshops and advanced training sessions. Graduates of the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Center are currently taking part in the ongoing cyber warfare competition.

“Government Cloud” and Digital Solutions

Asadov also discussed the “Government Cloud” project, led by AzInTelecom, noting that over 100 government institutions have already migrated their information systems to the cloud. Work is underway to establish two additional data centers.

In conclusion, he mentioned the SIMA digital solution, developed by AzInTelecom, as a major step in Azerbaijan’s digital transformation. The mobile application—integrating biometrics, cryptography, and artificial intelligence—is now used by over 5 million citizens and provides access to more than 200 government portals.
