Davud Rüstəmov, head of the National Cybersecurity Center under the State Security Service, stated that an attempted cyberattack against one of the country’s critical information infrastructures was prevented this year. He shared this information during his speech at AKTA’s annual report event.
According to Davud Rüstəmov, the incident was detected in a timely manner and neutralized promptly. Investigations revealed the involvement of two individuals, who were held accountable. Considering that one of the participants was a minor, preventive measures were taken in accordance with the applicable legislation.
It was noted that the early detection of the cyber intrusion attempt helped prevent potential data leaks and the spread of the attack to other critical information infrastructures. As emphasized by Rüstəmov, such incidents are rare and do not have a significant impact on the overall cybersecurity environment.
During the event, Davud Rüstəmov also touched upon the cybersecurity threat landscape for the coming year, stating that protecting critical systems and strengthening preventive measures will remain among the top priorities.
