On TikTok, Duolingo shared a video showing characters Lily and Zari carrying Duo's body and placing it in a truck. Many brands across the internet expressed their condolences for Duo's passing. Squishmallows wrote, "Where can we RSVP to the funeral?" Fashion Nova commented, "How else am I supposed to talk to my customers?" Netflix marked Duo's death with a clip from the series "Squid Game," captioning it, "Sending our condolences fr (for real)." Whether this is a clue or not remains unclear.
Duo was first introduced with the Duolingo app in 2011, helping users stay motivated with reminders to continue their lessons. While Duolingo jokingly claimed that Duo was born in 1000 BC, his actual debut was in 2011. Over time, he gained fame through pop culture references and became more widely recognized.
Duolingo's social media also stated, "We ask that you respect Dua Lipa's privacy at this time." As of now, Dua Lipa has not commented on the matter.
