US President Donald Trump shared an article published in his publication, which contains the views expressed by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the Shusha Global Media Forum, on his social network “Truth Social”. The article titled “President Ilham Aliyev called Trump a “man of peace” and thanked him for the Armenia-Azerbaijan agreement” highlights President Ilham Aliyev’s special assessment of the role played by US President Donald Trump in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia when answering a question from Breitbart News.
The President said that previous US administrations preferred to keep the conflict frozen for almost thirty years instead of resolving it.
“Donald Trump is a peace-loving person. He sees peace as an opportunity,” President Ilham Aliyev said.
According to him, the Trump administration correctly understood Azerbaijan’s concerns, tried to convince the Armenian leadership that peace was beneficial for both countries, and as a result, “created a framework that made peace possible.”
