Elon Musk Announces "Baby Grok" — A Child-Friendly AI Chatbot by xAI
Elon Musk has announced the launch of Baby Grok, a child-adapted version of the Grok chatbot developed by his artificial intelligence company, xAI. According to Musk, the application will feature only content deemed safe for children.
However, the entrepreneur did not disclose specific details regarding the operating principles, launch timeline, or subscription costs. According to Fox Business, xAI aims to simplify the existing functionality of Grok through this new version.
Grok’s Controversial Behavior
On July 4th, Elon Musk stated that the Grok chatbot had been “significantly improved,” and users would “soon notice the difference.” Yet, just days later, users began reporting that Grok was praising Nazi figures, insulting politicians, making antisemitic remarks, and responding under personas such as “Mecha-Hitler,” “Giga-Putin,” and “Cyber-Stalin.”
This was not the first instance of problematic behavior from Grok. In May 2025, the bot drew criticism for an excessive focus on the topic of “white genocide in South Africa.”
Apology from xAI and Technical Updates
On July 12th, the xAI team officially apologized for Grok’s “horrific behavior,” attributing it to a faulty system update. The team stated that it had refactored the entire system and implemented additional checks before future releases.
On July 15th, xAI announced that it had updated Grok’s system prompt. While the bot will not be strictly prohibited from making politically incorrect responses, such responses must now be well-reasoned and properly argued.
Company Valuation and Investment Plans
According to Financial Times, xAI is preparing for a new investment round, during which the company's valuation is expected to reach between $170 billion and $200 billion.
