In a statement to journalists at the opening ceremony of the 49th ICPC World Finals in Baku on September 1, 2025, ADA University's Vice-Rector, Fariz Ismayilzade, highlighted the possibility of establishing research centers and bases for global tech giants like Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI in Azerbaijan. He noted that such initiatives would have a positive impact on the country's information technology sector.
Ismayilzade stated that this year's ICPC World Finals hosted 140 teams from 70 countries. He emphasized that these students will go on to work as engineers and programmers at major companies, and hosting such an event in Azerbaijan boosts the country's international image and prestige. He added that the event also positively influences the development of IT technologies, computer science, and the computer industry in Azerbaijan.
Hosting such international events in Azerbaijan can strengthen the country's position in the technology sector and attract the attention of global companies. In turn, this could lead to increased activity from research centers and tech companies, contributing to the diversification and development of Azerbaijan's economy.
