Google unveils its latest AI breakthrough: Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview (I/O Edition)

Google has officially introduced its latest achievement in artificial intelligence — the Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview (I/O Edition) model. According to the company, this new version outperforms a number of widely recognized global benchmarks and effectively replaces the existing Gemini 2.5 Pro model.

The new model is now available to users through the Google Gemini API, Vertex AI, and AI Studio platforms. It is priced the same as the previous version. Additionally, the model has been integrated into the web and mobile versions of the Gemini chatbot application.

The release of Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview (I/O Edition) coincides with Google’s annual I/O developer conference, during which the company is expected to unveil several other AI models and new AI-powered tools. With these innovations, Google aims to maintain a leading position in the competitive AI market, especially against rivals such as OpenAI and xAI.

According to Google’s official blog post, the new model features significant improvements in code writing, developing interactive web applications, code transformation, and code editing. In particular, it addresses key feedback from current users by reducing errors in function calls and improving the accuracy of triggering functions.

Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview (I/O Edition) has also ranked at the top of the global WebDev Arena Leaderboard, which measures AI models’ capabilities in developing visually aesthetic and functional web applications. The model also demonstrates state-of-the-art performance in video understanding, scoring 84.8% on the well-known benchmark VideoMME.

As stated in Google’s announcement:

“For developers already using the Gemini 2.5 Pro model, this new version will not only enhance coding performance but also address their primary feedback — particularly reducing functional errors and ensuring more stable performance. The model also prioritizes aesthetic design in web applications and remains highly steerable.”

This update reaffirms Google’s ambitions in the field of artificial intelligence and its commitment to enhancing user experience.
