X users no longer need to pay for X Premium to use the service’s AI chatbot, Grok. Instead, X is giving users 10 free requests every 2 hours.
Additionally, users are allowed to create 10 images every 2 hours. However, they can only analyze 3 images per day. More analysis requires a subscription, as noted in an X post.
These changes bring Grok to a freemium model similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Anthropic’s Claude model. Previously, Grok was only available to X Premium subscribers, at a cost of $8 per month or $84 per year.
The AI company behind Grok, xAI, has raised $6 billion in funding, bringing its total funding to $12 billion, according to a recent SEC filing.
