According to media reports, both companies are preparing for an IPO in 2026.
The Economic Times, citing a report by The Information, writes that OpenAI has increased its revenue mainly due to the increase in the use of the Codex programming tool, the expansion of business products and the first experiments with advertising on ChatGPT.
The company also introduced an updated ChatGPT Pro subscription for $ 100 per month.
Anthropic, on the other hand, plans to double its revenue to $ 11 billion in the second quarter of 2026 and make about $ 600 million in profit, according to The Information. In May 2026, the WSJ wrote that the startup expects to earn $ 559 million in its first operating profit.
The American publication Forbes notes that OpenAI receives about 85% of its revenue from ChatGPT subscriptions. Anthropic's main source of income is corporate clients and software developers.
According to media reports, both startups are continuing their IPO preparations. According to Bloomberg sources, Anthropic plans to go public in October 2026 and raise about $60 billion. WSJ sources say that OpenAI’s IPO will be held in September.
In its last investment round in the spring of 2026, investors valued OpenAI at $852 billion. Anthropic raised $380 billion in February, but according to Bloomberg, the company is currently negotiating a new financing round with a valuation of $900 billion.
