India exports iPhone worth $23 billion

India has raised iPhone exports to $23 billion in 2025. Smartphones have become the country’s largest export category for the first time in history, according to government data.

Total smartphone exports rose 47% from $20.4 billion in 2024. Apple Inc. accounted for 76% of that volume. The company’s exports from India more than doubled from $11.5 billion in the past year. The growth is attributed to manufacturing incentive programs and reduced reliance on Chinese suppliers.

Meanwhile, the United States’ decision to lift a 20% fentanyl tariff on Chinese electronics could hurt India’s competitiveness. Apple currently has five iPhone factories in India and a supply chain of about 45 companies.
