Fidji Simo, the CEO of Instacart — an online grocery delivery platform operating in the U.S. — has been appointed to a new role at OpenAI. Starting from August 18, 2025, she will serve as CEO of Applications at OpenAI.
This is considered a very important and high-responsibility position within the company. Fidji Simo will oversee at least one-third of OpenAI's operations and report directly to CEO Sam Altman.
