The semiconductor giant Intel CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, continues structural changes to focus the company on its core business areas of personal computers and data center chips. According to Reuters, Intel is considering selling its networking and edge computing division, which produces chips for telecommunications equipment and generated $5.8 billion in revenue in 2024.
The company has started preliminary talks with potential buyers, but no formal sales process has begun yet. CEO Tan had previously announced plans to spin off non-core divisions and redirect resources to the main business areas.
This move aims to strengthen Intel’s competitiveness and financial position. The proceeds from the sale will be invested in the development of chips for PCs and data centers. The company has not yet made an official statement regarding the matter.
