By the order of the country’s “Supreme Leader” Hibatullah Akhundzada, fiber-optic internet and Wi-Fi services have been completely banned nationwide. It has been reported that this decision will not be reversed, and internet services have already been fully cut off in 10 out of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces.
According to available information, government representatives from the capital, Kabul, held talks with the “Supreme Leader” in Kandahar regarding this decision, but no results were achieved. Akhundzada has instructed the creation of a new internet company that only state institutions and foreign diplomatic missions will be able to use. This means that all other citizens of the country will have their access to the internet completely blocked.
