Meta has dismissed approximately 20 employees following an internal investigation into the unauthorized sharing of confidential company information.
In a statement, the company emphasized that Meta regularly reminds employees that leaking internal data is strictly against company policies. “As a result of our recent investigation, we have terminated around 20 employees found to have shared confidential information. This process is ongoing, and more dismissals are expected as further leaks are identified. We take this matter seriously and consider the protection of confidential information a top priority,” Meta stated.
This decision follows a series of leaks involving details from internal meetings and undisclosed product plans, which were shared with the media and external sources. In particular, after confidential details from a company-wide meeting led by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg were made public, the company issued a stern warning to employees and took measures to prevent further leaks.
Meta's Chief Technology Officer, Andrew Bosworth, also noted that the company was close to identifying the individuals responsible for the leaks, suggesting that additional terminations could follow.
