At its annual event, Meta showcased its new smart glasses developed in collaboration with the Ray-Ban brand. This new model, called “Meta Ray-Ban Display,” differs from the previous versions as it features a special display embedded in the right lens. Through this small screen, users can view app notifications, navigation directions, and other information.
The glasses are controlled with a wristband called “Meta Neural Band.” The wristband is capable of detecting even subtle hand movements, allowing users to control the glasses with ease.
According to Mark Zuckerberg, these glasses can take over many tasks currently performed by smartphones. The Meta Ray-Ban Display will go on sale on September 30 at a price of $799.
The new glasses are also equipped with a built-in AI assistant, camera, speakers, and microphones. Thanks to the internal display, users will be able to view apps such as Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook, follow navigation directions, and even see live translations.
By launching this product to the market early, Meta aims to take the lead in the smart glasses race. However, tech giants like Google and Apple are also expected to introduce their own smart glasses in the future.
