Microsoft Paint is getting an AI-powered image generator called Cocreator. Featuring diffusion-based algorithms, Cocreator produces new visuals through text-based commands and drawings you make in Paint.
According to Microsoft's announcement, the company has been working on AI-powered image generation for Paint for some time. In fact, early stage versions of Cocreator have been available to developers and Windows Insider program members since last spring.
With the announcement of Microsoft's new product family, Copilot+ PC models, Paint's Cocreator feature is officially available to users.
At the Surface event, the company demonstrated how Cocreator combines your own drawings with text commands to create an image. Cocreator also offers a "creativity swipe" feature. Thanks to this feature, you can control how much you want the AI involved compared to your original art.
According to Microsoft; A combination of text commands and your own brushstrokes allows you to edit faster. This way, you can get a more accurate description than you can get with another text-to-image AI tool like DALL-E or midjourney alone.
