Japan’s SoftBank Group has announced that it has begun mass production of robots powered by artificial intelligence. The company said at a shareholders’ meeting on June 24 that production is taking place at an undisclosed factory and that the products will be officially unveiled soon.
The move is part of SoftBank’s expansion into what it calls “physical artificial intelligence.” The company agreed in October 2025 to acquire the robotics division of Swiss industrial technology giant ABB for $5.375 billion. The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2026. The acquisition will allow SoftBank to further strengthen its position in the industrial robot market.
