More than 24 thousand "clone" IMEI codes were blocked by "AzInTelecom".

"AzInTelecom" LLC continues to fight against the illegal registration of mobile devices brought to Azerbaijan. As a result of regular monitoring, copied IMEI codes are detected and given the status of "clone". A restriction applies to devices used with "cloned" IMEI codes.

To date, 24,375 IMEI codes have been blocked with the status of "clone" within the framework of countermeasures. In the 3 months before those IMEI codes were blocked, 1,570,842 mobile number subscriber IDs appeared on the network. 1,157,111 attempts to connect to the network with blocked IMEI codes were rejected by AzInTelecom's Mobile Device Registration System (MCQS).

It should be noted that according to the "Rule of registration of mobile devices" approved by the relevant decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, mobile devices imported from abroad must be registered within 30 days by paying a state fee in order to be used in the telecommunication network of Azerbaijan.

Unfortunately, in some cases, people (or entrepreneurs) who do not want to pay the registration fee copy the IMEI codes of previously registered devices and sell them. And since the buyer is unaware of this process, he faces a restriction applied to the device later. In order to avoid such situations, it is recommended to check the authenticity of the IMEI code when buying a mobile device. It is possible to perform the check on the "portal.rinn.az" website free of charge. For this, it is enough to copy the code obtained by dialing *#06# on the device's screen, paste it in the "IMEI verification" section on the website and press the "check" button.
