AzInTelecom LLC, a company under AZCON Holding, continues its efforts to combat the registration of mobile devices imported into Azerbaijan using counterfeit IMEI codes.
As part of these measures, it has been discovered that 86,813 IMEI codes were cloned; all of these codes have been blocked by the Mobile Device Registration System (MDRS), which is operated by AzInTelecom. Furthermore, attempts to connect to mobile networks in Azerbaijan using these blocked IMEI codes have been successfully prevented.
It should be noted that, in accordance with the "Rules for the Registration of Mobile Devices" approved by a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, the IMEI codes of mobile devices imported into Azerbaijan from abroad must be registered within 30 days for the devices to be used on the country's telecommunication networks.
AzInTelecom LLC advises citizens to verify the IMEI code—found on the device's packaging—via the "mygov" portal before purchasing a mobile phone, and to prioritize buying only from reliable retail outlets.
