New AI-Powered Features Added to Google Play Store

Google’s updated Play Store now offers a more personalized and user-centric experience. According to TechCrunch, the main goal of the update is to increase user engagement with apps.

One of the most important aspects of the update is the integration of Google’s artificial intelligence (AI). With the Guided Search feature, users can now type their goal or idea instead of the app’s name. For example, typing “find a home” will suggest real estate apps.

For gamers, a dedicated AI assistant called Play Games Sidekick has been introduced. This in-game overlay allows players to receive real-time help, advice, or tips via Gemini Live without leaving the game. The feature is initially supported in select games from companies such as EA and Netmarble, including Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes and FC Mobile.

Redesigned Sections

The Play Store interface has also undergone significant changes:

Apps Tab: This section now highlights seasonal topics or selections based on user interests. For example, content related to the WNBA will be prioritized in the U.S., while users in South Korea will have access to a dedicated section combining movies, series, and short videos.

You Tab: This new centralized section gathers subscriptions, rewards, recommendations, and other updates in one place. It also provides personalized suggestions based on the movies you watch, books you read, and podcasts you listen to. For gamers, a profile displaying statistics and achievements is created. GenAI-generated avatars can also be added to these profiles.

Games Tab: The games section has been improved to consolidate achievements, rewards, and gaming communities. With Play Games Leagues, users can compete with friends and earn rewards. The first league will take place from October 10–23 for the game Subway Surfers.

Additionally, Google announced that its Google Play Games on PC service, offering over 200,000 games for Windows computers, has completed its beta phase and is now fully available.
