Projector Sales in China Decline for a Fourth Consecutive Quarter

China’s projector market continued to contract in the third quarter of 2026. According to research by analytics firm Luotu Technology, excluding laser TVs, projector sales fell 26.2% year over year to 829,000 units.

Manufacturers’ revenue declined even further, dropping 27.1% to 1.23 billion yuan. According to the report, the industry has now recorded a decline of more than 20% for four consecutive quarters. The main factors include weak consumer demand, a lack of significant improvement in the macroeconomic environment and the gradual withdrawal of less competitive products from the market.

Many manufacturers have postponed new product launches and major marketing campaigns until the coming months. Meanwhile, the 10 largest brands on Chinese online marketplaces accounted for 74% of unit sales and 81.7% of total revenue.

Xgimi retained its leading position in both sales volume and revenue. Dangbei, which focuses on 1LCD projectors, ranked second by units sold and third by revenue. JMGO and Vidda, whose product ranges are primarily focused on DLP models, ranked second and fourth respectively in revenue.

Despite the overall market decline, interest in laser light sources is growing. Laser-based models accounted for 19.9% of the market in the third quarter, an increase of 5.7 percentage points year over year. Three-color laser models made up 98.1% of all laser projector sales.
