RAM shortage slows iPhone 18 production

One of the main problems in the production of Apple's new generation iPhone 18 smartphones was the shortage of memory chips. According to reports, the processor worth about $ 1 billion, designed for new iPhone models, cannot proceed to the final assembly stage at TSMC factories due to a shortage of memory components.

According to insider Tim Kulpa, the problem is related to the manufacturing technology used in Apple's new 2-nanometer A20 processors. In these chips, RAM is placed in a single package with the processor. Although Apple purchases memory chips from leading manufacturers of the market, it was not possible to fully meet demand.

According to reports, since the first sales batches have already been prepared in advance, buyers are not expected to experience a serious shortage when the iPhone 18 hits the market. However, if the ongoing crisis in the global DRAM market continues, the delivery time of new iPhone models may increase by 2-3 weeks in the coming months, and prices may rise.

Some analysts do not exclude that the current situation in the memory market may continue until 2029.
