Chairman of the Board of the Space Agency ("Azerkosmos") under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport Samaddin Asadov was elected the vice-president of the International Astronautical Federation.
According to information, this decision was taken today at the meeting of the General Assembly of the Federation at the Milan Congress. After discussions at the meeting, the office and committee members of the International Astronautical Federation supported S. Asadov's candidacy.
"This designation is another visible indicator of the high reputation of our country in the regional and international arena. This designation, which is considered a high achievement for our country, is a continuation of the successes achieved by Azerbaijan in the space field," the information stated.

The Bureau is the main executive body of the International Astronautical Federation. The main duties of the Vice-President include presiding over plenary sessions of the General Assembly, congresses, symposia and other meetings of the Federation, making recommendations to the space agencies that are members of the Federation, supervising the preparation of the annual financial report to the General Assembly, appointing committees within the Federation, and strengthening cooperation between members.
S. Asadov's activity in the global organization as a vice-president allows Azerbaijan's successes in the space field to be announced from a higher platform.
