On Telegram, digital (virtual) versions of Habib Nurmagomedov’s famous hat were put up for auction. The sale lasted just one day, and the results were astonishing: all 29,000 virtual hats were sold out. Telegram earned a total of $4.35 million from this sale.
The auction was conducted using Telegram Stars, with the average price of a single hat being around 10,000 Stars.
When the auction began, Habib shared a very meaningful message on his channel:
"This is not just a hat. It symbolizes our roots, respect, and discipline. When my father gave me this hat, he taught me that true strength comes not only from physical power but also from commitment to tradition. Now I pass this value on to you."
This is not Telegram’s first success of this kind. In August, Pavel Durov released special gifts (such as “Durov’s Glasses”) for Telegram’s birthday, and all of them sold out in just 15 seconds. It appears that people show great interest in rare, limited-edition digital gifts.
