Tesla and SpaceX are accelerating the construction of a new semiconductor research center in the US state of Texas, called Advanced Technology Chip Fab (ATCF). The project, initiated by Elon Musk, aims to develop next-generation chips for electric cars, robots and artificial intelligence systems.
New images of the project show that work is continuing intensively at the construction site. Currently, the foundation is being poured, construction materials are being transported and preparations for the next phase are underway. In addition, the construction of four new buildings for contractors and temporary offices indicate that the project will take on a larger scale.
ATCF is considered the first phase of Elon Musk's Terafab project. According to information, Tesla, SpaceX, xAI and Intel will participate in the project. The investment cost of the first phase is about 55 billion US dollars, and after the full implementation of the project, the total investment is expected to reach 119 billion dollars.
The center will produce logic chips, memory modules and advanced semiconductor technologies in a single production process. The artificial intelligence accelerators to be created here are planned to be used in Tesla electric cars, robotaxis, Optimus humanoid robots, high-performance data processing centers and future space projects.
Earlier, ASML CEO Christophe Fouquet confirmed that they were in discussions with Elon Musk about creating one of the world's largest semiconductor production complexes.
