Texas sues Netflix: "It secretly monitored users"

The US state of Texas has filed a lawsuit against Netflix, Reuters reported.

The state's attorney general, Ken Paxton, said the platform illegally collected users' personal data. According to him, the company even tracked users through children's profiles.

The lawsuit states that Netflix has been deceiving customers for years. Although the platform promised not to transfer data to third parties, it allegedly secretly sold it to advertising companies.

In addition, the service is accused of using "dark interface methods". According to the lawsuit, tools such as the auto-play video function were intended to create addiction in users.

Texas authorities require Netflix to stop the illegal collection of personal data, disable the auto-play function on children's accounts and pay a large fine.
