The new function of WhatsApp called "Channels" has become available for users in our country. Introduced on June 8, the feature allows users to receive one-way updates from people and companies.
The Channels feature allows users to post content such as text, photos, videos, and polls. Shared content will be located in the "Updates" section. WhatsApp has also created a search directory so that users can easily find channels to watch. In addition, administrators will be able to make changes to the content they post for up to 30 days. Thanks to this new feature, the channels we have seen so far on Instagram will also start appearing on WhatsApp.
Certain channels can also be accessed through invitation links shared in chats, email or online. Let's also add that the feature is not available to everyone right now, but it will be available to all users soon.
WhatsApp also prioritizes privacy in this feature. The goal here is to protect the personal information of both administrators and viewers in the channels. Just as information such as channel managers' phone numbers and profile pictures are not shown to viewers, the phone numbers of users following a channel are not shown to managers or other viewers. Similarly, it is kept secret who the users are following.
