One of the world’s leading video game commerce companies, Xsolla, has obtained resident status at the Pirallahi High Technologies Park, operating under the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDDA).
This residency allows Xsolla to operate virtually (outside the technopark) while also benefiting from a number of privileges. Under this status, the company will be exempt from social insurance fees, profit tax, land tax, property tax, dividend tax, and several other taxes for a period of 10 years.
Thanks to these incentives, Xsolla will have greater opportunities to make more intensive and efficient investments in Azerbaijan’s digital gaming ecosystem. This, in turn, will create real prospects for the dynamic development of the gaming industry, the application of global best practices in the country, and the recognition of local game studios both in domestic and international markets. Additionally, Xsolla will contribute to attracting highly qualified specialists to the country and to the development of specialized infrastructure.
According to Taleh Karimli, Head of the Innovation Ecosystem Department at IDDA, Xsolla’s launch of operations in Azerbaijan’s technopark is a highly significant development for the local ecosystem:
“The expansion of operations in Azerbaijan by a global gaming company like Xsolla demonstrates the rising growth of the country’s gaming industry. Overall, the entry of global players into Azerbaijan undoubtedly accelerates the rapid development of the local gaming ecosystem. At the same time, it boosts both the adoption of innovations and the growth of human capital in the IT sector.”
It should be noted that Xsolla is a platform that carries out 72% of commercial transactions in the global gaming business and has 20 years of experience in the field. Within the framework of its cooperation with IDDA, the first international incubation program aimed at developing the local gaming ecosystem has already been implemented, and in the near future, projects such as Xsolla StarNest Academy and other joint initiatives are expected to be launched.
