A Russian court fined Telegram 3 million rubles for refusing to remove banned information.
The Tagansky Court of Moscow fined the messenger for an administrative error. Case files show that Roskomnadzor officers found a number of Telegram channels that published information prohibited in the Russian Federation. Although the department sent a warning to the management of the messenger with a request to delete the posts, it was ignored in response.
At first, the company was threatened with a fine of 4 million rubles, but later its amount was reduced to 3 million ($34,236). However, although the defendant was informed about the court hearing, the representatives of the messenger never came to the hearing.
