After a high-profile theft at the Louvre Museum in Paris, an investigation revealed that the password to the museum’s security system was simply “Louvre.” According to the newspaper Libération, four men stole 88 million euros worth of historical jewels in just seven minutes on October 19.
Auditors’ documents showed that serious security flaws at the museum were identified 11 years ago. The system was running on outdated Windows Server 2003, purchased in 2003.
French Culture Minister Rachida Dati initially said that “there was no system failure,” but later confirmed the flaws. Telegram founder Pavel Durov called the incident “another indicator of the decline of a once-great country.”
