The beta version of the WhatsApp messenger for Android is testing a new feature that allows you to convert voice messages to text.
According to the WABetaInfo resource, the update was included in the latest update 2.24.15.5 and is currently available only to a limited number of users.
This feature first appeared on the iOS version of WhatsApp in May 2023 and is now available for Android users. Transcription supports multiple languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian and Hindi. The developers plan to expand the list of supported languages in the future.
A special feature of the function is that the voice messages are transcribed directly on the user's device without transferring the data to external servers, which makes this process more secure in terms of privacy.
It is not yet known when this feature will be available to all WhatsApp users, but its appearance in the beta version suggests that it may soon be integrated into the stable version of the app.
