In the latest beta version of WhatsApp Messenger for Android, a new feature is being tested that allows users to set reminders for specific messages. The update was first spotted by WABetaInfo.
With this new feature, users can set a reminder to return to a particular message later. They can choose from preset time intervals of 2 hours, 8 hours, or 24 hours, or select a specific date and time. Once a reminder is set, a bell icon will appear next to the message.
At the scheduled time, WhatsApp will send a notification about the message. If the message includes an image, video, or GIF, a preview of the media content will be displayed in the notification. The name of the chat where the message is located will also be shown.
A key detail is that the reminder is private and visible only to the user who sets it – the other party will not be notified.
Currently, the feature is only available to selected beta testers using Android devices. It is still unclear when it will be released for iOS or rolled out to all users.
Experts suggest that this feature could be an effective and practical way to help users remember important messages. Previously, users would often take a screenshot of the message to save it for later, but this new feature offers a more convenient solution.
