Yandex has announced the launch of its taxi ordering platform Yandex Go in Istanbul. The company said in a press conference that the service has been successfully operating in Antalya, Izmir, Ankara, Mersin and Adana for the past two years and is now available to Istanbul residents.
Yandex Go works through advanced algorithms and a geolocation-based matching system. The application automatically determines the user's location and directs the nearest driver, which allows for a minimum of waiting time. According to the company, this system allows drivers to move to the next customer faster after completing an order and helps reduce traffic congestion in the city.
The platform's smart map and navigation technologies ensure the selection of the shortest and most efficient routes. Yandex says that this approach both shortens the journey time and optimizes costs by reducing fuel consumption.
According to the figures released by the company, thanks to the smart system accompanying each trip, customers get access to a car within an average of 3 minutes. The service offers 24/7 support and uses a variety of automated security technologies. Before the trip, users are provided with the driver’s name, photo, rating, number of completed orders, as well as confirmation of their driver’s license and other documents.
During the trip, features such as a safety center, sharing the route with loved ones, automatic detection of possible incidents, and an emergency button for drivers are activated. After the trip is over, the parties can rate each other and provide feedback.
According to Yandex, more than 50 percent of trips made on the platform are now completed with cashless payment. Also, thanks to the integration of Yandex Maps and Yandex Navi, users can order a taxi directly from the map applications.
The company notes that last year, Yandex Go saved 254,000 hours of time for its users thanks to its artificial intelligence-supported routing and car matching system. This figure is equal to 29 years of uninterrupted time. The average time savings per trip was 7.07 percent.
The Yandex Go application can be downloaded for free for iOS and Android devices in many languages, including Azerbaijani.
