Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma’s Committee on Information Policy, Andrey Svintsov, has announced the timeline for the complete blocking of the YouTube platform in the country. According to the deputy, since the video hosting service continues to ignore Russian legislation, it will be fully restricted in Russia within the next 6–12 months.
Svintsov warned content creators, urging them not to waste time and to switch to local alternatives such as Rutube and VK Video. He emphasized that content should be promoted on Russian platforms or on resources that do not act against the country. The deputy added that Roskomnadzor will continue to impose restrictions until YouTube is completely pushed out of the Russian market.
It should be noted that Svintsov had previously claimed that the WhatsApp messenger would also be forgotten and blocked within six months.
