‘‘Metro Hackathon’’ is the first hackathon program held in Azerbaijan on metro infrastructure. In this intensive 3-day competition, which will be implemented with the initiative of Baku Metro CJSC, one of the AZCON Holding companies, and with the organizational support of SUP.VC, participants will have the opportunity to create artificial intelligence (AI)-based solutions to real problems in the field of passenger flow management, congestion reduction and digital transformation of the transport system in the metro.
Within the framework of the hackathon, participants will use the real database of the Baku Metro to develop concepts in 7 areas: data forecasting, “smart transition” management, escalator load balancing, passenger distribution on platforms, dynamic interval regulation, optimization of the boarding and alighting process and the “Digital Twin” model of the metro network. Participants will be provided with continuous mentoring support from the country’s leading experts in AI/Data analytics, programming, design, product development and transport technologies.
In the final presentations, which are the main stage of the competition, the teams will present their projects in the assembly hall of the Baku Metro technological building. The most innovative solutions will be awarded: first place will receive 5,000 AZN, second place will receive 3,000 AZN, and third place will receive 1,000 AZN. In addition, additional internship opportunities in the metro system are planned for the winning teams, and the best projects can be tested as a pilot in the metro system.
The “Metro Hackathon” project aims to support the development of innovative thinking and technological skills among participants, as well as to train a new generation of specialists who will prepare Azerbaijan’s transport infrastructure for the future. The program also provides participants with a unique opportunity to improve their skills in working with real-world problems, teamwork, data analytics, and project presentation.
This competition, which will be held in the very center of the city - at the “Icherisheher” station, symbolizes the beginning of a new stage in the field of corporate innovation in Azerbaijan.
