Huawei Chairman Xu Zhijun said that the sanctions imposed by the United States have accelerated the development of the Chinese semiconductor industry. According to him, the restrictions have forced the country to reduce dependence on foreign technologies and strengthen its own chip production.
Xu noted that the export restrictions imposed since 2019 have prompted Huawei to restructure its production and design processes. This has accelerated the development not only of the company, but also of the Chinese microelectronics sector as a whole.
“We would not have been able to achieve this without pressure from the United States,” the Huawei CEO emphasized. At the same time, he admitted that China is still several years behind world leaders in the most advanced chip manufacturing technologies. Nevertheless, in recent years, the country has made significant progress in the semiconductor industry.
