Azercell Telecom has taken an important step towards the development of artificial intelligence capabilities for the Azerbaijani language. The company, in cooperation with Amazon Web Services (AWS), has created a ready-to-use technological platform for training large language models (LLM) in the Azerbaijani language.
This project was presented as a successful example on the official AWS platform in terms of adapting advanced cloud technologies and artificial intelligence solutions to languages with limited digital resources. This project is of particular importance for the country. Thus, the creation of artificial intelligence systems that understand the Azerbaijani language and correctly process data, taking into account its characteristics, is one of the important directions in terms of the country's digital development and technological transformation.
Due to its rich grammatical structure and relatively limited digital language resources, the Azerbaijani language is considered one of the complex languages for training artificial intelligence models.
The platform jointly created by Azercell and AWS increases the efficiency of the training process of artificial intelligence models by creating a basis for processing a larger volume of texts in the Azerbaijani language.
This cooperation model also reflects the trend observed in the global technology market. Thus, currently, telecommunications operators and the world's leading technology companies acting as hyperscalers are joining forces to accelerate the development of innovations in the fields of cloud services, data analytics and artificial intelligence.
For Azercell, this cooperation is the next stage in its transformation from a traditional telecommunications operator to a technology-oriented digital company.
It should be noted that the localization of artificial intelligence solutions for the Azerbaijani language is considered one of the main priorities of the "Artificial Intelligence Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2025–2028". The created technological platform will play a role as a basis for the development of Azercell's artificial intelligence ecosystem. The platform will accelerate the development of intelligent virtual assistants, chatbots and other digital services in the future, thereby improving the quality of customer services and personalizing the user experience.
