A free alternative to Whoop has been created - Goose

A developer known as the programmer Bennett has released a new app called Goose on the GitHub platform. The project, which was noticed by the Android Authority publication, allows users to get data from the Whoop fitness bracelet without a paid subscription.

Whoop is a popular fitness tracker without a screen that tracks sleep quality, recovery process and physical load. However, the main feature of the device is that it is fully functional only with a paid subscription. The annual subscription fee starts at $ 199, and if the payment is stopped, the user loses access to the indicators.

The Goose application eliminates this limitation. The program connects to the Whoop bracelet via Bluetooth, processes the data and presents the user with statistics such as sleep, recovery, stress, cardio indicators and energy reserves. The data is stored on the device itself by default, while sleep and exercise records are integrated via HealthKit.

However, Goose is still in the early stages of development. The author of the project calls the application a “pre-alpha” version and states that it currently works only on the iOS 26 operating system, as well as the latest Whoop 5.0 model. Support for older generation devices is not yet available.

The first open beta version of the Goose app, developed in the Rust and Swift programming languages, is expected to be released on TestFlight on June 13.
