Meta's Threads social network will be rolling out ads to users worldwide. The company announced this on its official blog.
According to the report, ads will be gradually activated in all markets during the week starting January 26, 2026. The full implementation of the update may take several months.
Meta did not provide specific information about the frequency of display of ads. The company only noted that users can see a similar level of personalized ads as on other Meta social platforms.
Testing of ads on Threads, an analogue of the X (formerly Twitter) social network, began in January 2025. In the first phase, tests were conducted with the participation of several brands in the United States and Japan. At that time, Meta stated that ads would be marked with a special icon and displayed between posts in users' feeds.
In April 2025, advertising tests were further expanded to cover 30 countries.
It should be noted that the Threads application, which is integrated with Instagram, was launched in July 2023, and its web version was launched in August. The social network also launched in Europe in December 2023. According to the company, as of August 2025, the number of monthly active users of Threads exceeded 400 million.
