With the release of iOS 26 Beta 2 on Monday, Apple has made noticeable improvements to its new and somewhat controversial “Liquid Glass” interface, first introduced earlier this month at WWDC 2025.
Liquid Glass brings a modern aesthetic to the iPhone, iPad, and other Apple devices by mimicking the optical qualities of glass — such as translucency and light refraction. However, early developer beta users were quick to point out its shortcomings, especially in terms of readability and usability.
One of the biggest complaints centered on the Control Center, which users access by swiping down from the top-right corner of the iPhone screen. In the first beta, the semi-transparent background made it difficult to distinguish buttons and sliders from the Home Screen icons behind them.
In Beta 2, Apple has increased the background blur in the Control Center, significantly improving the visual separation between interface elements and the background.
Another issue users raised was with notifications, which were hard to read, particularly on bright backgrounds. In the updated beta, notifications appear slightly sharper, though Apple still has room to improve readability.
These updates suggest that Apple is actively responding to feedback, although more refinements are expected before iOS 26's official launch in the fall.
In addition to UI fixes, iOS 26 Beta 2 introduces several other features:
- A new Accessibility section has been added to App Store product pages
- iCloud sync is now available for the Journaling app on iPad
- Order tracking has been integrated into Apple Wallet
- A new Apple Music Radio widget is now available
- And more minor enhancements across the system
- These changes reflect Apple’s continued focus on balancing innovation with user experience as it evolves the iOS design language.
