Apple refuses to integrate Claude into Siri

Apple has abandoned plans to integrate Anthropic's Claude artificial intelligence model into Siri and has struck a deal with Google.

Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, citing AppleInsider, writes that Anthropic demanded several billion dollars a year for the integration and asked for the contract to be increased twice a year. The agreement with Google is about $ 1 billion a year, which is significantly lower than Claude's demands. For example, Google pays Apple about $ 20 billion a year to maintain its search engine status.

Although the deal did not take place, Apple continues to use Anthropic technologies within the company — its servers run special versions of Claude. Siri may also use local models in different countries in the future. Apple continues to cooperate with OpenAI, ChatGPT currently supports Apple Intelligence functions.

Apple plans to completely switch to its own software in the field of artificial intelligence in the near future. At the end of 2025, the company made record R&D expenditures, which indicates that the transition to its own solutions is imminent.
